There's a major bug in this version...
I have 2 user IDs, and I can only sign-on with my alternate ID. Both have the same password, and the passwords are saved. I signed up for the primary one, entered it into PalTalk with the unlock code from the e-mail, then did the same for the alternate one. Now whichever one I pick from the list, it signs on the alternate ID, and without any error messages. http://www.wackyb.com/zzub/style_emoticons/mad.gif I've got 9 other IMs set up this way without any problems at all. I e-mailed tech support and got a message telling me they'd contact me within 24 hours, that was a week ago and still no response.
What's the deal with PalTalk? If anyone can offer a suggestion I'd appreciate it.
If I can't solve this soon I'm going to whack the whole system right off my computer and put a message on my web page warning others not to waste their time on this IM and instead stick to IMs that have functional programs and tech support.
Thanks, and sorry about the rant, but as a computer engineer major security bugs really tick me off... and PalTalk has more than just this one. (I entered my MSN, Y!, etc... accounts into PalTalk and saved the passwords, primary with primary and secondary with secondary... and now I see them all! I don't have them set to sign on automatically, but this would be a major security hole if I shared this computer with anyone else.)

Hiya jmeyer43,
Paltalk tech support as in e-mail support is only available to the blue nicks in other words the paid members. You more than likely wont get a reply to your e-mail. (It does state this somewhere cannot remember now where it was placed it was not in an obvious location)
As a standard member you can access the online support rooms and also the FAQ/information area they have on their site.
Standard members used to be able to get support via e-mail but that was dropped a while ago and made available only to those who pay.
I would tend to try the support rooms and see if they can help you at all, you may have to wait a while though as their help rooms are generally busy and even then they maynot be able to help you but at least you have spoken to someone even if is sometimes the stock standard answers.

Well, build 491 is the same trojan horse that 488 is. I wanted another IM host, instead I get spams even though I have an IE pop-up blocker, support e-mails go unanswered, in support chats all the PalTalk support person posts is PalTalk ads ignoring my mesages (and don't bother asking me about what kind of chat hardware I have because I have it all and it all works fine, but a keyboard and monitor are the only ones that instant messengers use and using microphones and speakers is not an option unless it's one-on-one and I know who that other person is... but since PalTalk has 0 human support people anyway, it doesn't matter). Well, since there's no way for me to IM on PalTalk with my promary PalTalk ID, I'm going to uninstall it and make sure everyone I know who uses IM avoids it like the plague it is. I tried to hack the registry to see if I could get it working, and I found 2 different entries under HKCU/Software! That's illegal behavior since everything must be under HKCU/software/{company name}/{application name}/ That explains the security breach concerning the big-4 signons.

I too have stopped using Paltalk and have not used it for a long time. As to what is legal / illegal it does not seem to matter these places change the rules to suit themselves.

Look under the topic "Key Confirmation Code" that is where it is!
